Winifred B. Christensen

Winifred "Winnie" Christensen, age 90, peacefully passed away at her home Friday, December 4, 2020. She was the daughter of Erskine and Larene Blackbourn born October 8, 1930 at home in rural Beetown WI. After graduating from Lancaster High School, she married Neal W. Christensen Jr. in Riley, Kansas where Neal was stationed in the United States Army at the time. They settled and raised their family of nine children in Oregon, Wisconsin. Winnie worked for over 30 years cleaning homes for several area families. She enjoyed sewing as she had projects on the go most of the time. Winnie loved to cook for and spend time with her own family and grandchildren. She enjoyed going back to her hometown of Beetown to visit and connect with her family, especially to attend the Blackburn and Christensen family reunions.

Winnie is survived by her children: Neal Wray III, Erskine (Barb), Chris (Cheryl), Wade (Sandra), Glen (Sherry), Diann (Rob McConnell), and Shelley; 13 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; her sisters: Maude Dailey, Mary Lu Vondrum, and Ellen Krohn.
In addition to her parents, Winnie was preceded in death by her husband Neal, a son, Jeff, a sister, Ruth Palmer, and brothers, Russell and Claire Blackbourn.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Beetown Hall, Beetown. Private family burial will be in Beetown Cemetery, Beetown. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
