William F. "Bill" Massey, age 69, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 1, 1949, in Gary, Indiana, the son of William and Elizabeth (Kelly) Massey. Bill graduated from Bruce High School in 1967. He furthered his education at University of Wisconsin Superior, graduating in 1971. Bill earned his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin Platteville in 1990. He taught high school Biology for 39 years. He had a passion for coaching; Bill coached football for 43 years and track for 32 years. He was inducted in the Wisconsin Football Coach Hall of Fame in 2009. On June 22, 1974, Bill was united in marriage to Pamela Towers in Ladysmith, WI. Three daughters were born to this union, Sarah, Anne, and Laura. Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, and spending time with family on the pontoon. He loved officiating track and field. Bill was a member of the Lancaster Lions Club, Wisconsin Football Coach's Association, Wings Over Wisconsin, and Ducks Unlimited. Bill was a generous and loving man who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Pamela; three daughters: Sarah (Joel) Block; Anne (Tony) Kietzmann; Laura (Raymond) Blackledge; three grandchildren: Anna and Mariah Block and Elijah Blackledge; his siblings: Sandee (Keith) Simpson; Tim Massey; Amy (John) Gerber; Jeff (Vera) Massey; other relatives and many friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Joel Massey, a nephew Kyle, and niece, Amanda Massey.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Weaver officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family and friends may call on Friday, October 26, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials will be donated to Multiple Myeloma research. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with his care.
