Walter A. Keene

Walter A. Keene, age 82, of Potosi, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at his home. He was born on November 8, 1931, the son of Arthur and Mathilda (Milke) Keene. Walter graduated from Potosi High School. He was united in marriage to Doris L. Bartels on  March 26, 1953, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Walter was a lifetime member of the Davies Memorial United Church of Christ in Potosi. He enjoyed farming with his wife in rural Potosi. Walter loved spending time with his family.

Walter is survived by his six daughters, Judy (David) Laufenberg, Cassville; Jane (Roger) Reed, Lancaster; Debra (James) Udelhoven, Fennimore; Patsy (Peter) Heberlein, Fennimore; Beth (Dwight) Kuster, Potosi; and Connie (Daniel) Cray, Potosi; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Marlene) Keene, Potosi.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris in 2012; two sisters, Marian (Robert) Wolf and Norma Jean (Henry) Kosharek.

Funeral services were held on Friday, February 7, 2014, at  11:00 a.m. at the Davies Memorial United Church of Christ in Potosi with Pastor Petra Streiff officiating. Burial was in the British Hollow Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends called on Thursday, February 6, 2014, from  4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Potosi and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be made to the British Hollow Cemetery or the Davies Memorial United Church of Christ in loving memory of Walter Keene.
