Vincent William Klein, age 77, of Potosi, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2013, surrounded by family at his home following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Vincent was born May 4, 1935, in Potosi, the son of Henry and Laura (Langkamp) Klein. On February 28, 1963 he married Phyllis Brogley. They were members of the St. Andrew-Thomas Parish of Tennyson, Wisconsin. Vincent and Phyllis farmed in Potosi for 40 years and raised eleven children. Vincent was hard working and owned a dairy farm. He enjoyed fishing which led to a fishworm business with the catch phrase of Klein's Worms Catch the Biggest Fish. He also enjoyed watching the Badgers and Packers, gardening, raising game birds, playing cards with friends, watching and feeding the birds, morel hunting, putting puzzles together and always keeping the last piece just to say he finished the puzzle. Vincent sold the farm in 2002 and they built a home up the road from the family farm. His biggest joy was having his family around especially on the holidays. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Vincent is survived by his wife, Phyllis Klein of Potosi; his children, Cheree (Dale) Frederickson, Sue (Doug) Augustin, Todd (Amy) Klein, Janet (Jeff) Koll, Jacqueline (John) Pegelow, Brenda (Jeffrey) Vondra, Cindy (Jeff) Erstad, Vicki (Marvin) Thompson, Eric (Mandy) Klein, and Carrie Klein and fianc Shawn Monroe; brothers and sisters, Loretta Reuter, Joseph (Eileen) Klein, Robert (Dolores) Klein, Nick (Marge) Klein, Paul (Eevie) Klein, Francis (Ann) Klein, Larry (Jane) Klein, Marcella Klein, and Eileen Birkett and 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Art Schoot.
Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Karen Klein, two grandchildren: Justin and Ashley Vondra, a sister, Donna Schoot, and two brothers-in-law, Clifford Reuter and Paul Birkett.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Family and friends called on Friday, April 5, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Vincent W. Klein Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Potosi is serving the family.
