Vera M. Troester, age 85, formerly of Belmont, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Manor Care in Platteville. She was born June 6, 1924 in Belmont, WI the daughter of Conrad and Eda (Schuldt) Schult. Vera graduated from Belmont High School. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Gilbert Troester on September 30, 1955 in Dubuque, Iowa. Together they farmed in Graf, Iowa and Arthur, WI. Vera worked with an auction company in Dubuque and worked as a realtor. After retirement, they moved to Florida and eventually returned to the area to be near family. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Belmont, enjoyed going to flea markets and loved her nieces and nephews.
Vera is survived her brother, Elmer (Anna) Schult, Mount Horeb; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence on June 9, 2005; three brothers and three sisters: Clarence (Viola) Schultz, Walter (Violet) Schult and Herbert (Ruby) Schultz; Hazel (Hugh Sr.) Boyle, Leora (Amiel) Holtz and Helen Schult.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Belmont with Pastor Connie Matye officiating. Burial was in the Belmont Cemetery. Visitation was held from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2 at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.
Memorials are preferred to Peace Lutheran Church or charity of donors choice.
