Vanda F. Vorwald, age 82, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at her daughter's home in Lancaster. She was born on May 31, 1933, in Stitzer, the daughter of Elmer and Margaret (Liest) Becker. Vanda graduated salutatorian from Fennimore High School. She furthered her education at Madison Business College where she earned a degree in accounting. On May 31, 1955, she was united in marriage to William Vorwald. Vanda was employed as a bookkeeper at Grant Community Clinic, Orchard Manor Nursing Home, and Richgels-Schaefer Insurance. In January of 1978, she became the City Clerk Treasurer for the City of Lancaster and was employed there until her retirement on June 2, 1995. Vanda enjoyed golfing, softball, gambling, puzzles, crossword puzzles, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She volunteered her time as an EMT, with the local Meals on Wheels program, and she and Jan Hanson chaired the cancer support group in the area. Vanda was an avid Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and University of Wisconsin Badger fan.

Survivors include her seven children: Gregory (Camille Kirschbaum) Vorwald, Mt. Ida; Debra (Robert) Fitzgerald, Lemont, IL; Kate (Michael) Wetter, Dodgeville; Diane (Roger) Heberlein, Lancaster; Jeanne (Patrick) Marshall, Viola; Nancy (Ladd) Nelson, Bellevue, IA; Susan (Jeff Simonson) Murray, Friendship; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Judith (Barry) Chisnell, Itasca, IL; sister-in-law, Jane Becker, Augusta; brother-in-law, Toni Hatch, Portage; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Vanda was preceded in death by her siblings: Beverly (Howard) Lind; Norman Becker; and Anita Hatch.

A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Lancaster United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in Lancaster. Private family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Lancaster Rescue Squad, PO Box 293, Lancaster, WI 53813 and/or Grant County Hospice, 111 S. Jefferson St., Lancaster, WI 53813. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family.
