Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON - Thomas “Tom” Gerard Langmeier, age 62, of Bloomington, WI, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on September 25th, 2024, after a two-year battle with glioblastoma.

Tom was born on September 19, 1962, to Ben and Pat Langmeier. He had many childhood memories growing up with his three brothers and four sisters on their home farm near Patch Grove, WI. He graduated from West Grant High School in 1981 and started working his senior year at North Andover Building & Supply. In 1988, he purchased the business and renamed it Langmeier Lumber and in 2001, he relocated the business to Bloomington, WI. In 2008, Tom founded Lumber Tech Columns when he purchased his first automated press for manufacturing laminated columns. He devoted many years to building his businesses which were his life’s work. Tom also served 30 years as a volunteer firefighter on the Mt. Hope and Bloomington Fire Departments.

In 1980, Tom met his loving wife of 39 years, Dianne White, at West Grant High School, and they became “high school sweethearts”. They were united in marriage in 1985 and had three children, Tricia, Trevor, and Taylor. He enjoyed coaching all three children throughout the years in softball, baseball, and basketball, and loved cheering them on and supporting them in everything they did. In the past four years, he became a grandpa to three beautiful grandchildren who filled him with great joy.

Tom and Dianne loved going on many adventures and road trips with their children over the years, including many trips out west skiing in Colorado and numerous trips to Disney World and the beaches of Florida. They enjoyed traveling with friends and meeting new friends on a trip to Alaska. Tom also cherished hunting trips out west and fishing trips with his friends.

Tom truly lived life to the fullest, always learning a new hobby or embarking on a new endeavor. He enjoyed stoking a good campfire with friends or family. Tom loved hunting, fishing, playing games, golfing, being the captain of his pontoon, Teacher Camp, and making pizzas in his fire-brick pizza oven at the cabin. He was famous for his homemade popcorn and his “turkey gobble”.

Tom is survived by his wife, Dianne, his children, Tricia (Josh) Kuenster, Trevor (Kylie) Langmeier, and Taylor (Brandon Krantz) Langmeier; his three grandchildren, Evelyn and Vincent Kuenster, Calum Langmeier; his brothers, Jim Langmeier, Pete (Gail) Langmeier, Paul (Delaine) Langmeier; his sisters, Janet Langmeier, Ann (Greg) Quick, Peg (Roger) Guthrie, Sue (Tracy) Christ; his in-laws, Dwayne (Sam) White, Dave (Bonnie) White, Doreen (Scott) Wood, Dan (Mick) White; his mother-in-law, Carolyn (Roger) White-Knapp; many special nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews; and his dedicated work family at Langmeier Lumber and Lumber Tech.
