Terry R. Peterson, age 73, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at UW-Madison Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on September 2, 1944, in Platteville, the son of Sydney and Ivanell (Hartnett) Peterson. Terry graduated from Lancaster High School in 1963. On October 21, 1978, he was united in marriage to Sandra K. Hiday. Terry also served in the National Guard. Terry and Sandy together owned and operated Peterson Farms Dairy Export which bought and sold dairy cattle all over the United States and Internationally. In addition, they owned operated Peterson Farms in Lancaster, WI and Misty Farms in Trenton, FL. Terry was one of the few lucky ones that was able to have his career as his hobby. His expertise in the cattle industry was recognized and sought after by many clients. Terry was a board member for several local banks. His last service was with American Bank. He and Sandy were very proud of their children and spent many days enjoying their grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sandy; children: Kyle (Christine) Elliott, Amy (Dennis) Busch, Ashley (Rob) Crubel; a daughter-in-law, Lynn Elliott; grandchildren: Ryan, Carolyn, James, Sean, and Sarah Elliott; Sydney, Anthony, and Alexandra Busch; Brody, Brooklyn, Braelyn, and Bronson Crubel; and Sharine (Flynn), Deidre, Stephen, and Deanna Elliott; a sister Sherry Peterson; a sister-in-law, Carole Peterson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Janey (Steve) Shoemaker, Dee (Jim) LeMaster, and Jerry (Diana) Hiday; and many nieces and nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Sydney and Ivanell; Ivanell’s second husband, Gail Tanner; his father and mother-in-law, Chester “Chet” and Della Hiday; his son Christopher Elliott; and a brother, Dennis Peterson.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 3018 at the Lancaster United Methodist Church, 216 S. Monroe St., Lancaster, with Pastor Bob McKelvey officiating. Family and Friends may call on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church and on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the Church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Terry R. Peterson Memorial Fund has been established. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with his services.
