Stewart M. Bradley, age 96, of Glen Haven, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. He was born on June 3, 1916, in Potosi, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Kelly) Bradley. Stewart served his country in the United States Army from 1941 until his honorable discharge in 1945. He served overseas in the Southern Philippines, New Guinea, and Luzon. During his service, Stewart was awarded Pacific Theatre Service Medal, American Defense Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star and six Overseas Bars. On October 10, 1945, Stewart was united in marriage to Alberta Richter at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven. After their marriage, Stewart farmed for many years. He farmed for Metcalf Ag in Glen Haven and later worked for the Town of Glen Haven as a Sanitation Engineer. He also worked as a janitor for St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven. Stewart was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, the Glen Haven Volunteer Fire Department and the Cassville VFW Post No. 7080. He enjoyed mowing grass and going for rides.

Survivors include his children: Sharon (John) Tesar, Jr., and Judy (Charles) Johll, all of Prairie du Chien; Rodney Bradley, Glen Haven; five grandchildren: Tim Tesar, Prairie du Chien; Kim (Leon) Trappe, Monona, IA; Rick Johll, Jenny (Chris) Phelps, and Andy Johll all of Prairie du Chien; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Stewart was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alberta on January 2, 2013; seven brothers: Jasper, Delbert, Lawrence, Earl, Leo, Walter, and Donald.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, April 26, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial with military honors was in Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven. Family and friends called on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Stewart M. Bradley Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bloomington is serving the family.
