LANCASTER – Steven L. "Gilly" Gillilan, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison. He was born August 4, 1950 in Lancaster, the son of Stuart and Lois (Ferris) Gillilan. Gilly graduated Lancaster High School in 1969. He was drafted in the United Stated Army, serving his country from 1970 to 1972, during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Gilly was employed at People's Oil. He had various employment that included H & N Plumbing & Heating, Advance Transformer, Cummins and Piggly Wiggly, when he retired. He was united in marriage to Gale Graney on April 1, 2005. Gilly enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, outdoor cookouts with family and friends, and taking walks with his dog Maci.
Surviving is his wife Gale, two sons; Matt Gillilan of Bloomington and Curt Gillilan of Potosi; two step daughters; Valerie (Lance) Mish of Cassville, and Nicole (Nick) Pohle of Lancaster, three grandchildren; Brady Pennekamp od Bloomington, Ava and Weston Gillilan of Potosi, six step grandchildren; Jonathon Mish of Platteville, Lucas and Crystalyn Mish, Jayden and Owen Johnson, and Audrey Pohle of Cassville, and many special aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Gilly was preceded in death by his sister Sue (Marc) Myers, and a brother Randall.
In honor of Gilly's wishes, there will be no formal services. A Celebration of Life will be held at Zippy's Brass Rail on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 12:00 PM. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
