Steven H. Hocking, age 60, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Senior Behavioral Sciences in Platteville. He was born July 13, 1953, the son of Harold and Carol (Paulson) Hocking. He graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1972. Steven married Kathryn A. Mauk at the New Diggings Primitive Methodist Church on April 7, 1973. He was employed at the Galena Foundry and later, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. Steven always found his way back to farming, even during other employment. He was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Steven enjoyed hunting, fishing, and word search books. When he and Kathryn traveled he collected hats. He dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn; four children: Charlotte Hocking, Melissa Howen, Russell (Niki), and Kristopher Hocking; four grandchildren: Dylan, Trinity, Brandon, and Elliott; his mother, Carol Hocking; and his brothers and sisters: Mary (Irwin) Frank, Linda (Tom) Brines, Diane (Everett) Mau, John (Kay) Hocking, Becky (Dan) Kilcoyne, and Mark (Janet) Hocking.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, Harold; an infant brother, Thomas; and a granddaughter, Joslin Howen.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Rev. Barbara Cook officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church. Friends also called on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
