Steven A. "Steve" Stanfley, age 60, of Lancaster, Wisconsin, passed away with his loving wife by his side on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse from complications of COVID-19. He was born April 17, 1961, the son of Jerald "Jerry" and Bonnie (Knapp) Stanfley. Steve graduated from Lancaster High School in 1979. He enlisted in the US. Air Force and served stateside from 1979 to 1983 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Upon his return to Lancaster, he was employed locally. In 2000 Steve moved to Texas and had his own construction company. He returned to Lancaster in 2009 and worked for Eagle Point Solar in Dubuque, Iowa. On October 22, 2020, he was united in marriage to Leta M. Hoeft in Treasure Island, Florida. Steve currently had his own company, PV Solar Solutions, and farmed with his father, Jerry, and brother, Vernon. Steve enjoyed farming and his animals, travelling, camping, and riding his Harley with his wife. He dearly loved his family and spending time with them.
Surviving is his loving wife, Leta; their children: Brandi Stanfley, Devin Mootz, Jessica Hoeft, her son, Tanner; Michael (Kayleigh) Hoeft; and their daughter Rylee; and Matthew (Carmella) Hoeft; his mother, Bonnie Fruit; his father, Jerry Stanfley; and his brother, Vernon(Sandy) Stanfley, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his step-father, Jerry Fruit, Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents: Ray and Charlotte Stanfley; and Roy and Grace Knapp.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster Congregational Church, with Rev. Mark Dieter officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Friday, August 27, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church, and on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Steve Stanfley memorial fund has been established.
