 Stanley C. Wetter, age 93, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Lancaster Care Center in Lancaster. He was born on January 15, 1920, in North Lancaster, Township, the son of Clarence and Letha (Hore) Wetter. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1938. He was employed with the Grant County Highway Department until his retirement. Stanley plowed snow, ran bulldozer, built boat landings, and was later the parts manager in the county shop. He married Aleise M. Edge on April 17, 1943. In their retirement, Stan and Aleise enjoyed many years in Florida and Arizona during the winter months. Stanley had an exceptional vegetable garden and gladly shared its bounty with many. He was very proud to have been a member of Lancasters first volunteer rescue squad team and was its last surviving first member. Their picture is currently on display at Grant Regional Health Center.

Survivors include his daughters, Kathryn (Charles) Hernett, Wilsonville, OR; Nancy (Dr. Robert) Hoffman, Lancaster; his grandchildren: Dr. Chad (Mary) Moore, Flagstaff, AZ; Angela (Jack) Burke, Phoenix, AZ; Christopher (Cristi) Moore, Lake Jackson, TX; Erin (Brad) Vesperman, Mt. Horeb; Dr. Peter (Amara) Hoffman, Lancaster; nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Harold (Dorothy) Wetter, Lancaster; sisters-in-law, Velma Wetter, Lancaster; Mercedes Mumm, Dodgeville; brother-in-law, George (Betty) Edge, Lancaster; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, Aleise; his brother Donald Wetter; his sister-in-law, Marion Leifer and brother-in-law, William Mumm.

Funeral services were held at 11:30 am on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Lancaster with Rev. Mark Dieter officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called Monday, July 29, 2013 from 9:30 am until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Stanley C. Wetter Memorial Fund has been established with donations being given to the Lancaster Rescue Squad.
