Shirley Mae Kitelinger, age 83, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Edenbrook in Platteville. She was born on October 2, 1941, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Clem and Lucille (Jeidy) Hore. Shirley and her family moved to Lancaster, and she graduated from Lancaster High School in 1959. On May 5, 1960, Shirley was united in marriage to William R. Kitelinger at the Lancaster United Methodist Church. After their marriage, Shirley and William raised their family in Lancaster. She dearly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed shopping, going out to eat and family gatherings; she always prepared enough food to feed the entire neighborhood. Her Christmas candy, popcorn balls and peanut brittle were her family’s favorite. Shirley also enjoyed watching television, especially “Days of Our Lives”, “The Young and the Restless”, “Little House on the Prairie”, and “Dr. Phil”. She liked to play solitaire on the computer and put puzzles together. Her love for her family and her quick wit will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her children: Sheila (Ed) Place, Karen (Eric) Wepking, Patti (Nick) Stavitzski, Tim (Nickie) Kitelinger, and Dave (Tina) Kitelinger; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her siblings: JoEllen (Tom) Baumgartner, Tony (Sue) Hore, and Steve Orr; Joe Waldera; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a son, Robert, her husband William, her sister, Janice Hore and a sister-in-law, Helen Orr.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster. The burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may visit on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. The family requests those in attendance to please dress in casual attire.
