Shirley E. Ellis

PATCH GROVE - Shirley E. Ellis, age 78, of Patch Grove, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was born on April 12, 1941, the daughter of Roy and Edna (Jarms) Haberichter. Shirley, her father, and her grandmother, were all born in the same farmhouse located southeast of Monona, IA. Shirley spent her early childhood in Clayton County, Iowa, moved to the Patch Grove area in 1952, and graduated from Patch Grove High School in 1958. She married Jerry Ellis on October 24, 1959, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Bagley. Shirley and Jerry raised their family in the home that he built in 1960. Shirley was Patch Grove Village Clerk for 18 years, and secretary/treasurer for the Patch Grove Fire Department for 31 years. Shirley enjoyed time spent with her family, reading, sewing, gardening, and dancing with Jerry.
Shirley is survived by her children: Stephanie (Mark) Steffensmeier, Mike (Shelly) Ellis, and Kim (Pat) Esser, all of Bloomington; nine grandchildren: Daryl (Nikki) Ellis, Dan Steffensmeier, Ashley (Joe) Krantz, Kevin (Stacy) Ellis, Becky (Brandon) Oglesby, Katrina Ellis, Shea (Madeline) Esser, Brittany (Ricky) Kendall, Cordt Esser; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren (one on the way); her sister, Nadine (Doug) Caya, Wadena, MN; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Jim) Stimart, Bagley, and brother-in-law, Milton (LaVonne) Ellis, Prairie du Chien.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband and dance partner of 54 years, Jerry, and her brother, Robert Haberichter.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 12:00 noon, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Bagley, WI, with Reverend Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial will be in Patch Grove Cemetery, Patch Grove. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington is entrusted with her care.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice. The family requests that any plants or flowers be sent to someone who would enjoy them as much as Shirley did.
