 Shirley A. Ronan, age 87, of Bloomington, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on January 27, 1925, in Bloomington the daughter of Miner M. and Helen (Mason) Knapp. Shirley was raised on the Knapp Family Farm in Bloomington. In 1949, she was united in marriage to James Ronan. Shirley loved spending time with her family, baking desserts, playing cards and being outside. She had a passion for maintaining family history and took pride in updating records for the Bloomington High School Alumni Directory. Shirley was the go-toperson for any fact or piece of information anyone needed. She was a caregiver to many and enjoyed volunteering her time. She babysat and helped out her family and neighbors. Shirley was employed with Zenz and Ronan Implement, Dr. P.K. Edwards Office, Melvin Bonn Law Office, Burros Insurance and Skelgas.

Survivors include her children: Mary (Robert) Mergen, Glen Haven; Kay Taylor, Lancaster; Jane (Mike) Martin, Corpus Christi, TX; honorary daughter number four, Ellen of Lancaster; honorary son, Pat of Bloomington; her grandchildren: Jim (Sue Rinehart) Mergen; Anne (Tom) Hore; Steve (Michele Hewitt) Mergen; Michelle (Michael) Vance; Michael (Crystal Cardenas) Martin; Ryan Taylor; great-grandchildren: Eric, Justin, Brittany, Jena, MaKayla, Tristen, Kara, Jayden, Mikey and Aiden; her sister, Virginia Ward, Bloomington; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Skip Knapp, Bloomington; Shirley Pelishek, West Bend; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Jim, Shirley was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Knapp.

Funeral services were held on Friday, October 12, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Bloomington with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Private family burial was in St. Marys Cemetery, Bloomington. Family and friends called on Friday, October 12, 2012, from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington is serving the family.
