Shirley A. Rech, age 72, of Lancaster, died on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. She was born on November 24, 1937, in Cassville Township, the daughter of Richard and Sylvia (Reed) Richards. Shirley graduated from Potosi High School in 1953. On June 15, 1957, Shirley was united in marriage to Charles L. Rech at the United Methodist Church Parsonage in Lancaster. She was employed with Dairy Herd Improvement Association in Fennimore. Shirley enjoyed fishing, playing cards and going to the boat. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons: Randy Rech, Lancaster; Robert Rech, Elgin, IL; a sister, Nancy (Ken) Jacobson, Potosi; three nephews: Duane Jacobson, Brian Jacobson, and Mike (Courtney) Richards; one niece, Gina (Tom) Vondrum; and her very special grandchildren: Kari and Grant Vance.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, LeRoy (Elaine) Richards.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster with Reverend Barbara Cook officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Friday, January 8, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Saturday.
