Sharlene Haas

Sharlene M. Haas, age 78, of Potosi, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at UW Hospital and Clinics in Madison. She was born on March 31, 1937, in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Clarence and Hilda (Ziemer) Ryan. Sharlene graduated Waterloo High School and furthered her education at nursing school in Dubuque, IA. She was employed at Mercy Medical Center for several years. On February 27, 1960, Sharlene was united in marriage to Joseph Haas at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dubuque, IA. After raising her family, she went back to work as a nurse's aide at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, retiring in 1999. Sharlene was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Tennyson and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Dan, Ken, Larry (Penny), Robert (Bridget), Randy (Sandra) Haas; Maureen (Harry) Shaben; Laurie Eisele; 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marti Ryan and Sarah (George) Pemsl; a brother-in-law, Jim (Mary) Haas; a close friend, Don Morsehead.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two granddaughters: Blaire and Jamie Haas; and a brother, Jim Ryan.

Funeral services was held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Family and friends called on Monday, November 23, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Potosi is serving the family.
