Sandra M. Gerhards

POTOSI – Sandra M. Gerhards, age 80, of Potosi, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster, Wisconsin. She was born on May 12, 1944, to Vincent and Mary (Johnson) Lau. On April 20, 1963, she was united in marriage to Joseph “Ronnie” Gerhards at St. Thomas Church in Potosi, Wisconsin. They grew their family by having six children, five of which were boys, blessing her with patience beyond any other. Sandra dedicated 36 years as secretary for the Potosi Public Schools. She enjoyed her time after retiring with the other school retirees having lunch, playing cards, and attending Senior Swim.

Sandra is survived by her loving husband, Joseph “Ronnie” ; children: Bruce, Scott, Brian (Mary Beth), Todd (Emalee) Gerhards, and Mary Alice (Buzz) Schmitz, all of Potosi; daughter-in-law: Joyce Walter; in-laws: Mary Anne Melssen, and James (Maurna) Gerhards; brother, Ron (Mary Jo) Lau; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, and friends, especially special friend, Betsy Dalsing.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Vincent and Mary Lau; parent-in-laws: Adolph and Catherine Gerhards; a son, Mike; and a brother-in-law, John Melssen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Tennyson, with a rosary starting at 8:45 a.m. Burial will be held at St. Thomas Cemetery in Potosi. Family and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Potosi is assisting the family.
