Sandra S. Becwar

Sandra S. “Sandy” Becwar, age 85, of Glen Haven, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. She was born January 5, 1938, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Daisy (Shaw) Waller. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1956. Sandy began her career in the distribution department of John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works in Dubuque, Iowa. On September 2, 1964, she was united in marriage to Gary L. Becwar at Nativity Parish in Dubuque, Iowa. Together they farmed the Becwar Fairview Family Farm in Glen Haven Township, now in its third generation. Sandy later was employed with The Swiss Colony, retiring after 24 years. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glen Haven and was a member of its altar society. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping and the many dogs she cared for. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Surviving is her loving husband of 58 years, Gary; their children: Steve (Michelle “Micki”) Becwar, Ann Becwar, and Kirt Becwar; two granddaughters: Brooke (Jordan) Fure and Bailie (Josh) Mumm; one great-grandson, Hudson Fure, and one on the way; two sisters: Gail Dame and Sharon “Judy” Becwar; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by a sister, Patricia (William “Bill”) Kohler; a brother, James “Jim” (Kathryn) Waller; two brothers-in-law: Robert Dame and David Becwar.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville with Father Gregory Ihm officiating. A private family burial will be held in the Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven Township at a later date. Family and friends may call on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
