Sally VanNatta

Sally J. VanNatta, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at the UW Hospital in Madison. She was born on February 12, 1937, in Lancaster, the daughter of Victor and Anna (Wilson) VanNatta. Sally grew up on the family farm near Bloomington. She attended Milner School and graduated from Bloomington High School in 1955. She was a loyal follower of the Bloomington basketball team. Sally always enjoyed the outdoors going fishing and hunting and she loved to watch the birds that came to her feeders. She worked at different jobs throughout her life, including Hillcrest in Dubuque, IA, F&M Bank and Croft's Grocery Store in Lancaster, to name a few. Sally took over running the family farm after her father passed away and lived there until her death. She loved her Herford cattle always calling the calves her babies. Sally also enjoyed her phone conversations with her good friend Rosanne Horkheimer, which they did every night since high school. Sally had a very strong faith in God and is now at peace in Heaven with Him.

Sally is survived by her nephews and nieces: James (Pam) Moore; Robert (Cindy) Moore; Nancy Moore; Vicki (Jim) Jensen; Joseph Murray and Janet (Darin) Paku.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty J. (Gereld Moore) Schauff, Arlene Murray, a nephew, Don Moore and two brothers-in-law, Tim Murray and Lyle Schauff.

Funeral services were on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Sally J. VanNatta Memorial Fund has been established.
