Ruth M. Droessler, age 78, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on August 17, 1934, in Lancaster, the daughter of Raymond and Wilma (Heinrichs) Ertz. Ruth graduated from Lancaster High School. She then moved to Madison for a short time. Upon returning to Lancaster, Ruth was employed with Thorpe Finance as a bookkeeper. She was later employed with Grant Community Clinic as a bookkeeper until her retirement. Ruth was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and its church circle, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Grant Regional Health Center Auxiliary. She also volunteered at the nursing home. Ruth dearly loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed her Tuesday outings with her friends and socializing. Ruth collected bird houses, butterflies, and angels. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her children: Toni (Vicki) Bast, Lodi; Lisa (Dean) Bryan, Marshfield; Master Gunnery Sergeant Thomas (Darlene) Bast, deployed in Afghanistan; seven grandchildren: Kaitlyn (fianc Brandon Chiero) Bast, Jordan and Megan Bast; Bridget and Natalie Nolden; Meg Bryan and Joshua (Molly) Bast; great-grandson, Konnor; her sisters: Patricia Broihahn, Lancaster; Marjorie (Joseph) Murphy, Beaver Dam; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands, Carson Henry Jack Bast and Joseph Droessler; her siblings: Mary Jane Ertz, Phyllis McClain, Jeanette Walsh and Jerry Ertz.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
