Russell F. Kasparek

Russell F. "Russ" Kasparek, age 85, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. He was born on February 26, 1935, the son of Frank and Nina (Clark) Kasparek. Russ attended Sandy Hollow Country School. On September 5, 1960, he was united in marriage to Judith Adkins at St. John's Catholic Church in Patch Grove. Russ was employed at REA, which is now known as Scenic Rivers Energy Cooperative for over 37 years, retiring in 1994. He began his career on the brushing crew and was a digger operator for more than 20 years. Russ was a devoted member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. He was always willing to lend a hand during Fall Festival, in the dining hall, and as an usher during mass. Russ was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting ginseng, fishing, hunting, and playing cards. He dearly loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children: Jeffery (Beverly), Nancy (Jeff) Pennekamp, Kristine McCarville, and Jamie (Cathy) Kasparek; grandchildren: Cody Esser, Amy (Nick) Budworth, Mike, Brad (Felicia) Kasparek; Nicole (Derrick) Brehm, Jerry (Samantha Eisler) Pennekamp, Sara (Brent Giesen) Radloff, Amber (Joe Reynolds) Kasparek, Jacob (Ericka) Johnson, Ashley and Jamie Kasparek, Jr.; many great-grandchildren; sisters: Barbara (Clifford) Stram, Marie Lillo, Shirley Brukner, Frances (Scott) Gilbert; special friend, Lillian VanNatta; nieces, nephews, several relatives of the Blindert and Patcle families and many friends.
In addition to his parents and his brother, Carl, Russ was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Bob Lillo and Richard Brukner and his dear friend, Luella Patcle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Vernon officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Those in attendance are asked to wear a mask and observe social distancing. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Russell F. Kasparek Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
