Ruby Marshall

Ruby E. (Revenig) Marshall, age 87, of Bloomington, passed away at home on Sunday, September 15, 2013, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Ruby was born on June 8, 1926, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Elmer and Marcella (Mueller) Revenig. On September 4, 1948, she was united in marriage to Donald Marshall. Ruby was a devoted housewife and mother. She was employed at Cudahay Cheese Factory in Bloomington, cutting and wrapping cheese from 1966 until 1973. Ruby loved mowing her lawn, gardening of all kinds, occasional gambling, yearly trips, and playing Yahtzee.

Survivors include five children: Carol (John) Long; Glenn (Jenny) Marshall; Donna (Joe) Crubel; Angila (Robert) Moore, CA; Jason Marshall, OK; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters-in-law: Irene Revenig, Betty Brennan, and Shirley (Donald) Schueller; one aunt, Marilyn Bechtal, all of IA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Donald, Ruby was preceded in death by her three brothers: Richard, LeRoy (Virginia) and Ronald (Dorothy) Revenig, close aunts and uncles.

Funeral services were held on Friday, September 20, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington, with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in Blake's Prairie Cemetery, Bloomington Township. Family and friends called on Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Ruby E. Marshall Memorial Fund has been established with donations being given to some of Ruby's favorite charities. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bloomington is serving the family.
