Rosemary I. Rosie Thornton, age 80, of Bagley, died  Friday, September 26, 2008 at  Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien after a long illness due to Alzheimers. She was born on September 13, 1928 in Prairie du Chien, WI the daughter of James and Clara (Taylor) Quick. Rosie graduated from the  Patch Grove High School in 1947. She married Neil W. Thornton on February 9, 1948 in  Dubuque, Iowa. Together they spent their life farming on the Thornton Family farm in  Bloomington Township.

Rosie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bloomington, WI where she was active in many church activities. She enjoyed cooking, cake decorating and large family meals. Rosie was also active at the Blakes Prairie Fair and the Farm Womans Club. She was a dedicated mother, wife, sister and friend, whose legacy will be based on those she left.

Rosie is survived by her children Jeffery (Barb) Thornton and Pamela (Dan) Henkel, both of Bagley, WI; five grandchildren: William (Kerry) Thornton, Brian Thornton (Tina Soppe), Ethan Thornton, Derek Henkel and Rachel Henkel; two great-grandchildren and her sister, Evelyn Whiz (Phil) Redman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil in 2002, her parents and a brother, Leland Quick.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2008 at the  Patch Grove United  Methodist Church with the Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was held at Blakes  Prairie Cemetery,  Bloomington Township. Friends called from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 28 at Martin Funeral Home in  Bloomington and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.
