Ronald R. "Ron" Rittenhouse, age 76, of Cassville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, IA, after a brief illness. He was born on May 20, 1934, in a log cabin near Rushville, IL, the son of the late Ralph and Frances (Bowen) Rittenhouse. On June 18, 1975, he was united in marriage to Jeanne Bernhardt. Ron loved and worked in various capacities of the marine industry, which took him to Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri and Louisiana, before retiring in July 1998, and returning to Cassville. He never crossed the river without looking for a towboat. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, reading and spending time with family and friends. Ron was a generous man and enlightened the hearts of all who knew him.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 35 years, Jeanne Rittenhouse, Cassville; his children: Gary Holt, and his children, Lisa and Brandon, all of Nashville, TN; Ann (John) Holt-Minard, their children, Morgan, Avery, and Luke, all of Janesville; Peyron (Mike) Nejedly, and their family, all of Jacksonville, FL; Colleen Hall and her family, all of S. Roxanna, IL; Harlan Rittenhouse and his family, all of Kansas City, MO; LeeAnn Giesen and her family, all of  Dubuque, IA.

Funeral services were held on Monday, August 16, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family and friends called on Monday, August 16, 2010, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Eckstein Memorial Library, 1034 E. Dewey, Cassville, WI 53806.
