Roger Schneider

Roger R. Schneider, age 80, of Bloomington, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, surrounded by his family at the Lancaster Care Center. He was born on July 30, 1932, the son of Russell and Myrtle (Retallick) Schneider. Roger grew up in the Burton area, riding his pony to school. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1950. On September 26, 1951, he married Patricia Dobson. Together they enjoyed farming and raising their family. Roger was an avid horse lover. He was a charter member of the West Grant Saddle Club, Potosi Saddle Club, Southwest Regional Rodeo Association, and a 4-H club leader for the Beetown Busy Braves. Roger was very active in the Wisconsin High School Rodeo Association where seven of his ten children participated. He never missed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren rodeo and was their good luck charm.

Survivors include his children: Barb (Delbert) Reuter; Bonnie (Andy) Pink; Donnie (Val); Danny Tag (Linda); Dennis (Susan); Tony (Carm); Tim (Darla) Schneider; Tom (Patti); Becky (Dean Hoffman) Schneider; Brenda (Steve) Halverson; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jim (Phyllis) and Larry (Ursela) Schneider; one sister, Jewel (Don) Hedges; one brother-in-law, Curtis (Jean) Dobson; one sister-in-law, Nola (Dick) Burns; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy; an infant daughter; a brother, Donnie; and a brother-in-law, Jim Vesperman; his mother and father-in-law, Ralph (Vera) Dobson.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 25, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church in Lancaster. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Sunday, March 24, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
