LANCASTER – Roger C. Kafar, age 76, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born on October 14, 1941, in Cassville, the son of George and Mabel (Hoffman) Kafar. On September 11, 1982, Roger married Marilyn Reuter at the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ. He was employed at Rayovac for many years and retired in 2003. Roger loved hunting, fishing, trapping, turtle hunting, gardening, and the occasional trip to the casino.
Survivors include his loving wife, Marilyn; five children: Pam (Ken) David, Hillsdale, WI; Barb (Andy) Shada, Dane, WI; DeeDee (Kurt) Goebel, Dodgeville; Kris (Jeff) Cody, Derby, IA; Jamie (Lisa) Reuter, Lancaster; 13 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Beverly Turbin, Rewey, WI; Donna Paffrath, Rhinelander, WI; one brother, Richard Kafar, Mississippi; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by three brothers: Kenny, Stanly "Red" and Donnie "Buzz" Kafar; one sister, Virginia Kafar.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Vernon officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Roger C. Kafar Memorial Fund has been established.
