Robert H. "Jerry" Patterson, age 86, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque, IA. He was born on March 28, 1930 in Barrington, IL, the son of Robert H. and Ethel Mae (Liles) Patterson Sr. Jerry graduated from Barrington High School, and later attended Illinois Institute of Technology. He earned his Bachelor of Science, and obtained his Master's Degree in Information Systems. On June 15, 1951 Jerry was united in marriage to Muriel Osbon. He enlisted in the National Guard and was called to duty with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and stationed in Germany. Upon his return, Jerry began his career with the Indiana Rating Bureau. He was later employed with Western Electric located in Cicero and Montgomery, Illinois. Jerry played in the Naperville city band, and sang in many church choirs. He was an old house enthusiast, member of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, Lancaster Congregational Church, and Schreiner Memorial Library Board. Jerry enjoyed genealogy, and reading James Patterson books.
Surviving is his loving wife, Muriel; his daughter, Mary List; grandchildren, Ian (Michelle) and Sara Patterson, Audrey List; and great grandchildren, Victoria, Katie, Isabelle, Alexander and Angus James "AJ" Patterson.
Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Michael; a son in law, John J. List; and a sister, Marilyn (John) Buell.
Funeral services with military honors accorded by Richard Burns American Legion Post No. 109, William Pollock VFW Post No. 2344, and DAV No. 40, were held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lancaster Congregational Church, with Rev. Mark Dieter officiating. Private family burial was in Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Cary, IL. Family and friends called on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Lancaster is assisting the family. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be directed to Schreiner Memorial Library 113 West Elm Street, Lancaster, WI 53813.
