Robert L. Bob Udelhoven, age 89, of Beetown, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born February 26, 1921, in the Hurricane area of South Lancaster Township, the son of Anton Tony and Josephine (Fine) Udelhoven. Bob entered the United States Navy and served his country during World War II, stationed in the Mediterranean. Upon his honorable discharge, Bob returned to Grant County where he farmed in Beetown Township for many years. In 1950, he married Orpha Moen. To this loving union, one child was born, Tony. She preceded him in death in 1959. In 1963, Bob married Carol Sloniker. She preceded him in death in 1990. In 1994, Bob retired, selling the farm. On September 21, 1996, Bob was united in marriage to Mary (Edge) Wamsley. He enjoyed spending time with his family and helping other people.

Survivors include his wife, Mary (Edge) Wamsley-Udelhoven, Bloomington; son, Tony (Ginny) Udelhoven, Apple Valley, MN; grandchildren: Rachel Udelhoven, Apple Valley, MN; Emily (Tim) Ehlinger, Richfield, MN; Adam Udelhoven, Apple Valley, MN; a sister, Emily Werner, Lancaster; many nieces and nephews; Marys children: Donna (Greg) Martin and Diane (John) Vesperman, both of Lancaster; Darlene (Bob) Foster, John (Marie) Wamsley, and Bill (Devon) Wamsley, all of Darlington; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson; and many members of the Moen, Sloniker, Edge and Wamsley families.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Orpha and Carol, and his brothers and sisters: Bessie, Ray, Andy and Pat.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 23, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Rev. Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial with military honors was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Thursday, July 22, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Friday. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Robert L. Udelhoven memorial fund has been established.
