Robert J. Hansen passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the age of 75. He was born on October 2, 1940 in Rice Lake, WI to Eleanore (James) Christensen and Milne Hansen. He graduated from Chetek High School and received his Masters from University of Wisconsin - Stout. Bob spent a good portion of his career at SWTC as Dean of Student Services. After retirement, Bob worked at Lands' End, Wolf's Grantland Graphics, Grant County Taxi and volunteered as a driver for Aging and Disability Resource Center. He devoted his life to family, church and education.
As a loving Son, Husband, Father and Grandfather forever in our hearts, Robert Hansen is survived by his wife, Shirley Felder-Hansen of Lancaster; mother, Eleanore Christensen of Chetek; daughters, Carrie (Brian) Stearns of Cottage Grove, and Cristie (Eric) Fredrickson of Cross Plains. He was a Grandfather to Henry, Evelyn, Leona, Adalena, and Elijah.
A second chance at finding love was apparent when Bob and Shirley developed a relationship and married in 1997. Bob became a father figure to six step children: Tom (Terri) Felder, Jim (Misty) Felder, Jeff (Dana) Felder, Mary (Philip) Wolf, Sue Felder, and Sarah (Don) Blevins. Bob was also involved with his step grandchildren as they looked up to him for love, guidance and support while attending important events that meant a lot to all 13 step grandchildren: Nathan & Zachary Felder, Brett & Bradley Felder, Amber Landon, Abbey & Libby Felder, Carissa (Gary) Koenen, Nicole & Owen Wolf, Donavan (Godson to Bob), Alyssa & Jauron Blevins.
Bob enjoyed many outdoor activities which included camping, hiking, biking, walking, and gardening. The artistic side of Bob was displayed in his wood carvings, woodworking, picture painting, and stained glass.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Janis Hansen; his father, Milne Hansen, and stepfather James Christensen.
To honor Bob's life, funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 11am at the Lancaster United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jean Schmidt officiating. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster, WI. Family and friends called on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 9am until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Robert J. Hansen memorial fund has been established.
