Robert E VanNatta of Potosi, age 84, passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Orchard Manor in Lancaster, on Monday, July 10, 2017. He was born August 29, 1932 at the VanNatta Farm house. He attended Rigsby Grade School and graduated Potosi High School in 1951. After graduation, he went into the army and after that he worked several jobs including farm implement mechanic in Lancaster. In September of 1951 he met Lorraine Pettit and they were married on April 5, 1953. They first lived in the Potosi area on the family farm and started their family before moving to Lancaster. In 1961, they moved back to the family farm near Potosi to live and farm as their family grew. Bob and Lorraine were involved in Dairy, Hog, Beef and Poultry farming. Bob was very fond of horses, especially his prized Arabian, Bonnie. He loved the Lord and attended the First Baptist Church in Lancaster from the time he was married. He served the Lord humbly, helping out whenever needed. He raised his children to work hard and make wise decisions in life. Robert and Lorraine were married for 63 years. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends, but his memory will be held close to our hearts.
He is survived by his four children, Eugene VanNatta of Lancaster, Luann (& Jonathan) Cauthorn of Brooklyn, Susan (& James) McClure of Farmer City, Illinois, and Alan VanNatta of Potosi. He has 7 grandchildren, Nathan (& Kathleen) Clancy, Joshua Clancy, Daniel (& Nicole) Clancy, J. Christopher
Cauthorn, Jeremiah (& Kelly) Cauthorn, Nicole (& Todd) Fuhrmeister, and Carrie Cauthorn. He also has 8 great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Abigail Clancy, Orion Clancy, Henry and Wyatt (twins) and Lorraine Cauthorn, and Nathaniel and Caspian Fuhrmeister, along with one more great-grandchild on the way; and sister Donna.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine (Pettit) VanNatta of Potosi; sister Elaine; brother Larry; and parents, Donald and Reoa VanNatta.
Funeral services will be held at Calvary Community Church, 9175 Old Potosi Rd., Lancaster, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services. Interment with Military Honors will be at Boice Prairie Cemetery, Potosi. Martin Schwartz Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster is serving the family.
