Robert B. Pluemer 72, of Tennyson, WI, passed away on Tuesday morning, Aug. 26, 2008, after a short illness, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with the Father Geoffrey Fecht OSB, Father Richard Leffler, Father John Norder and Father Cy Weisensel concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the church where there will be a Parish Scripture Service at 4:30 p.m. and a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. provided by the Knights of Columbus and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Potosi is serving the family.
Bob was born February 26, 1936 in Potosi Township, son of Arnold and Leona (Muller) Pluemer. He graduated from St. Andrew High School in 1953. He was a lifelong resident of Tennyson. Bob served in the National Guard in the early 1960's. He was employed by John Deere in Dubuque, Iowa for 34 years and was a retired member of the UAW Local 94. Bob was a devoted member of the Catholic Knights for over 50 years and a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus. As a member of the Knights of Columbus for 35 years, Bob was a 31d and 4th Degree Knight. He served as Grand Knight, District Deputy and Treasurer of the 3rd Degree. He was past Faithful Navigator, Faithful Comptroller and Faithful Commander of the 4th Degree Honor Guard. Through his involvement with the Knights of Columbus, Bob was very active with Father Mazzucheli Assembly.
A devoted member of Saint Andrew-Thomas Parish, Bob served as Eucharistic Minister and Usher and for a time as President of the Parish Council,. He was always involved in the many activities of the parish and local community. Surviving are his brother, Don (Eileen) Pluemer, Platteville and sisters, Dorothy Richard, Cuba City, Hazel Fecht, Tennyson and Margaret Wilke, Tennyson; sister-in-law, Jane Pluemer, Platteville; many nieces and nephews and their children whom Bob loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lloyd and Parnell; his sisters-in-law, Mildred and Eleanor and his brothers-in-law, Vernon Richard, Raymond Downs, Francis Fecht and Delbert "Mort" Wilke. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests that memorials be given for the St. Andrew-Thomas Endowment Fund and the Potosi Rescue Squad.
