Ray Robert "Rug" Iverson, age 81, of Beloit, formerly of Potosi, died Friday, September 6, 2019, at home in Beloit, with his two daughters, Tamra and Deborah whom lovingly took care of him since January 2, 2018, by his side. He was born on February 4, 1938, in Livingston, the son of Clarence and Mary (Lange) Iverson, Sr. Ray enlisted in the United States Air Force and honorably served his country. Following his honorable discharge, Ray worked as a machinist for several companies within the tri-state area. He had a passion for building and riding motorcycles. Ray dearly loved his family and friends and the time spent with them. He was an avid outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed fishing, gardening, and bird watching. Ray will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his four children: Tamra Iverson, Alan Iverson, Deborah Bray and Anna Iverson; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 4 brothers and 1 sister; other relatives and many friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S Madison, Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
