Ralph B. Ploessl, age 92 of Glen Haven, WI, passed away Wednesday July 17, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. He was born August 27, 1926 the son of Alois and Alvina (Kluesner) Ploessl. Ralph attended Bloomington High School. On July 25, 1946 he was united into marriage to Margaret M. Mc Cartney at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. Ralph was employed with Burlington Northern Railroad in Cassville. Together Ralph and Margaret started farming in Cassville and later moved to farm in Glen Haven, until their retirement in 1994. Ralph was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glen Haven. In retirement he enjoyed wood working, playing euchre and traveling. He dearly loved his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren and keeping up with their activities.
Surviving is his loving wife of 72 years, Margaret; their children: Wayne (Colleen), Roger (Barb), and Cindy (Larry) Osterhaus; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Fran) Ploessl; a sister, Alvera Bradley; a sister in law, Mary Jane Mergen; and many nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by three sons: Dennis, Bruce, and Timothy, a daughter, Nancy (Robert) Grabow; one grandson, Dustin Osterhaus; a great-grandson, Vincent Shefelbein; his siblings: Alice (Henry) Bierman, Virgil (Geraldine), Jerry (Delores), Mary Ann (Tony) Runde, and Eugene Ploessl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday July 22, 2019 at St. Mary's Help of Christians Catholic Church in Glen Haven with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be in the Gockel Cemetery, rural Glen Haven. Family and friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church, where an 8:45 a.m. parish rosary will be prayed. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington is assisting the family.
