LANCASTER – Rachel Beth Peterson, age 98, of Lancaster and formerly of Bloomington, WI and Eau Claire, WI, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. She was born on October 29, 1919 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, the daughter of Wallace and Inez (Wallace) Norrish. Rachel married Earl Peterson on November 18, 1938, and they lived in Eau Claire until moving to Bloomington, WI in 1997. She was a homemaker, avid reader, and loved taking care of her family. Her happiest times were spent riding horses with her daughters and attending horse shows throughout the Wisconsin / Twin Cities area. Rachel and her husband, Earl, were active members of the Bit and Spur Club in Eau Claire and participated in many club activities over the years.
Rachel is survived by her children: Terry (Joyce) Peterson, Winona, MN; Vicki (David) Stein, Diamond Head, MS; Toni (Jim) Kirshbaum, Bloomington, WI, and Pam Weiss, Orono, MN; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband of 66 years, Earl, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Norrish; a sister-in-law, Vivian Norrish; and a son-in-law, David Weiss.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Pastor Chuck Miller officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire, WI. Family and friends may call Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Rachel Beth Peterson Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory is entrusted with her services.
