 Phyllis M. French, age 74, of Mount Hope, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. She was born on June 29, 1938, in Potosi, the daughter of Doris and Mary (Marcue) Hall. Phyllis graduated from Lancaster High School in 1957. On September 27, 1958, she was united in marriage to Dale French at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. After their marriage, Phyllis was employed at the feed mill. She was later employed at the Mount Hope Caf

and operated the caf

for several years. Phyllis was also employed with McGregor Loud Speaker and most recently, Wal-Mart, until her retirement four years ago. She loved her job and visiting with people. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and cooking and baking. She also enjoyed her flower gardens. Phyllis was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a PPRC chairperson. She was also a member of the West Grant Lioness and the Bagley Royal Neighbors.

Survivors include her loving husband, Dale French, Mount Hope; their six children: Christine (Matt Muench) Udelhoven, Potosi; Cynthia (Steve) Crozier, Tracy, IA; Randall (Christine) French, Lake Mills; Ricky (Cindy) French, Mount Hope; Corrine (Robert) Steger, Prairie du Chien; Ryan (Angela) French, Barneveld; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her brother, Carl (Kathy) Hall, Platteville; her sister, Pauline (Jim) Pitzen, Lancaster; and her sisters-in-law, Delores Hall, Lancaster; Robin Hall, Hazel Green; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by a grandson, Derek and her brothers, Charles and Doris Hall, Jr.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 18, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Bloomington with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Hermitage Cemetery, Mount Hope. Family and friends called on Sunday, March 17, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bloomington and on Monday from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at the church.
