Phyllis C. Derleth, age 91, of Lancaster, died on Monday, March 23, 2009, at Morningside Assisted Living in Lancaster. She was born on March 23, 1918, in Dodgeville, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Griffin) Blotz. After attending country school, she graduated from Dodgeville High School and Edgewood College in Madison. On November 30, 1939, Phyllis was united in marriage to Robert F. Derleth at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Dodgeville. After moving to Lancaster, they joined St. Clement Catholic Church. Phyllis was a member of Grant Regional Health Center Auxiliary and the CCW. She enjoyed raising their family of three sons and working at the Ben Franklin and Federated Stores, which she and her husband owned and operated.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband in 1996.
Survivors include her children: Fred (Jane) Derleth, Lancaster; Thomas (Denyce) Derleth, Watertown; Richard (Marti) Derleth, Pinehurst, NC; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends called on Thursday, March 26, 2009, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
