Patsy L. Rice, age 75, of Lancaster, died on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Grant Regional Health in Lancaster. She was born on April 27, 1936, in Lancaster, the daughter of George and Leona (Gabel) Pagenkopf. Patsy graduated Lancaster High School in 1954. She married Kenneth L. Rice in 1954. Patsy was a bookkeeper for Kenneth L. Rice Builders, Elwell, Reynolds & Rice, and later for John's IGA all in Lancaster. In her retirement she was a self-employed housekeeper for many local businesses and residents. Patsy was a member of the Bethlehem Evangelical & Reformed Church. She enjoyed crafts, collecting Christmas village pieces, and lending a helping hand to any one in need. Patsy dearly loved spending time with her family and friends, camping and traveling.
Survivors include her sons; Tim (Beth) Rice, Poplar Bluff, MO.; Jeff (Marnie) Rice, Argyle; seven grandchildren Travis, Matt, Richelle, Trever (Stacia), Megan, Amber Rice and Micala Peterson. One great granddaughter, Bri Rice. Two sisters, Corene (Rex) Ries, Texas; and Karen (Rick) Cronbaugh, Iowa.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Donald Ries.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethlehem E & R Church in Lancaster, with Rev. Mark Dieter officiating. Burial was in Little Grant Cemetery, Little Grant Twn. Family and friends called on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster. Friends also called on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be given to the Bethlehem E &R Church. Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster is serving the family.
