Patricia Okey

Patricia "Pat" J. Okey, age 84, of Cassville, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at her home under the care of her family and Grant County Hospice. She was born on March 29, 1932 in Sheboygan, WI, the daughter of Harvey & Antoinette (LeMahieu) Gibbons. Pat married Lynn A. Okey on June 13, 1955.

After getting married and moving to Cassville, Pat was primarily a homemaker raising four children. She also worked as a teacher and substitute teacher in the Cassville Public School System. She volunteered many hours as a scorekeeper for both the wrestling and track and field teams. After Lynn's retirement, they both continued to be involved in the track and field program as scorekeeper and official starter. She had a passion for scouting and was a den mother for several years. Pat loved to travel and visit relatives. She especially enjoyed her summer visits to the family cottage on Lake Michigan.

Pat is survived by her son, Kent, Cassville; her daughters, Ann (Henry) Gerth, Winona, MN, Kay Okey, Minneapolis, MN, and Sandra (Chris) Ott, Fontana, WI; grandsons, Philip (Cooper) Ott, Crested Butte, CO, and Zachary Ott, Marquette, MI; two brothers, Wesley (Joan), and Donald (Bobette) Gibbons; a brother-in-law, Dennis (Darlene) Okey; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn in 2006; and her parents.

Funeral Services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Cassville, with Rev. Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial was in Cassville Cemetery. Friends called from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, donations are preferred to the Cassville Rescue Squad.
