Patricia A. Chapman, age 76, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Lancaster, died on Monday, December 27, 2010, after a brief illness at the Lancaster Care Center in Lancaster. She was born on September 2, 1934, in Liberty Township, the daughter of Glen and Mildred L. (Holmes) Roesch. Pat graduated from Lancaster High School in 1952. On June 13, 1953, Pat was united in marriage to Bernard E. Chapman at the E&R Church in Lancaster. Together they farmed in Beetown Township. Pat was a city girl that wasnt afraid to work. She was the leader of Rolling Rockets 4-H Club and loved to bowl on the ORourke Funeral Home team. In 1985, Bernard and Pat moved to Cave Creek, AZ, and was employed at Desert Mountain Golf Community for over twenty-five years. Pat enjoyed her employment and close friendships that were formed there. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard Chapman, Lancaster; children: Greg (Kay) Chapman, Lancaster; Diane (Steve Purcell) Nelson, Great Falls, MT; Marcus (Missy) Chapman, Windsor, CO; Richard (Sue) Chapman, Seymour, WI; Kathleen (Doug) Casten, Johnston, IA; her grandchildren: Sarah (Cam) Siedschlag; Emily (Dennis) Romero; Travis Nelson; Robert, Joshua (Jennifer), Jacob (Karee), Samuel, and Anthony Chapman; great-grandchildren: Janie and Mallory Siedschlag; Cassandra, Alexis, and Dylan Romero; Taylor and Dylan Chapman; two brothers: John (Arlene) and James (Helen) Roesch, all of Lancaster; a brother-in-law, John Joyce, CA; many nieces and nephews, and an aunt, Naomi Seemeyer, Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Leona Roesch and a sister, Jean Joyce.
Memorial services were held Saturday, January 8, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lancaster Care Center Chapel. Family and friends called on Saturday, January 8, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the Lancaster Care Center. Burial was held at a later date in Little Grant Cemetery. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Patricia A. Chapman Memorial Fund has been established. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is assisting the family.
