Nona M. Quick, age 80, of Patch Grove, died on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse. She was born on August 3, 1929, in Grant County, the daughter of Roy and Florence (Schmidt) Jeidy. On October 23, 1946, Nona was united in marriage to Robert I. Quick, Sr. in Dubuque, IA. Together they farmed in the Bloomington and Patch Grove areas until retirement. Nona was very active within her community. She served as the Blakes Prairie Fair Secretary for over thirty years. She also served on the Grant County Commission of Aging for several years. Nona loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed her Thursday Bowling League. Nona was a member of the Patch Grove United Methodist Church for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Quick, Sr., Bagley; her children: Thomas (Elaine) Quick, Bagley; Robert (Cindy) Quick, Jr., Bagley; Nancy (Leland) Esser, Glen Haven; Gregory (Ann) Quick, Prairie du Chien; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters: Betty (Duane) Benoy, Bagley; Phyllis Wilson, Prairie du Chien; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, Nona was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine and four brothers-in-law.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Union Nagle Cemetery, Patch Grove Township. Family and friends called on Monday, February 1, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Nona M. Quick memorial fund has been established. Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington is assisting the family.
