Nilus A. Dalsing, age 81, of Cassville, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at his home. He was born on May 15, 1937, in Kieler, WI, the son of Bernard and Luella (Kaiser) Dalsing. Nilus graduated from Kieler High School and furthered his education at Loras Academy in Dubuque, IA. He served his country in the United States Army stationed in Germany from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1958. On April 23, 1960, Nilus was united in marriage to Mary Ann Donovan. After their marriage, the couple resided in Dubuque, IA, where Nilus was employed at John Deere Tractor Works for 35 years. He retired in 1995 and Nilus and Mary Ann moved to Cassville, WI. Nilus was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, its Knights of Columbus, the Mumm Welsh American Legion Post No. 352 and the Donaldson Kelly Kirschbaum VFW Post No. 7080, both of Cassville. Nilus was an avid sports fan, always cheering for the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed fishing and rainbows, and dearly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Ann; their children: Joan Mest; Tom (Amy) Dalsing; Mary Jo (Larry) Smock; Betty (John) Moore; Kay (Ed) Sass; Tim (Teresa) Dalsing; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Nilus was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane; two brothers, Marvin and LaVern.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends may call on Thursday, December 27, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, where a 2:45 p.m. rosary will be prayed. Friends may also call on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville is entrusted with his care.
