Myrtle K. Schneider

Myrtle K. Schneider, age 96 of Lancaster, died Wednesday , November 17, 2010 at the Lancaster Care Center. She was born July 7, 1914 in rural Burton the daughter of Art and Sarah (Stoney) Retallick. She married Russell Schneider on September 4, 1930 in Galena, IL.

Together they farmed in Grant County and in 1942 moved to the Beetown Township area. Russell and Myrtle resided and purchased a farmstead at the bottom of Buck Hill and raised their family. Myrtle was a member of the former Reoganized Church of Jesus Christ ofLatter Day Saints Church in Lancaster, which is now known as the Lancaster Area Community of Christ Church. She was a member of the Beetown Ladies Aid, a 4-H Leader and a charter member of the West Grant Saddle Club. Among other hobbies she loved to crochet.

Surviving are her sons; Roger Schneider, Bloomington; James (Phyllis) Schneider, Kenosha; and Larry (Ursula) Schneider, Las Cruses, NM; her daughter, Jewel (Don) Hedges, Leeton, MO, 29 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren nieces and nephews.

She is preceded by her husband Russell in 1986, her son Donald and a son in infancy,her brother Floyd Retallick four sisters; Ella Fritz, Frances Plohr, Pearl Johnson, and Goldie Retallick, and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Schneider.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 21, 2010, at 2:00 pm. at the Lancaster Area Community of Christ Church. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends called on Saturday, November 20, 2010 from 3:00pm. until 7:00pm. at the Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster, and on Sunday from 1:00pm. until time of services at the church.
