Michael V. Ley

Michael V. "Mike" Ley, age 57, of Platteville, formerly of Cassville, WI, died Monday, April 16, 2012, at the  Southwest Health Center in Platteville.

Mike was born on November 1, 1954 in Prairie du Chien, WI, a son of James & Catherine (Weber) Ley. He grew up on a farm in Cassville, and graduated from Cassville High School. He was the Basketball and Football manager throughout high school. Mike worked as a custodian at UW-Platteville since 1996.

He was a die hard Cub fan, an avid Packer fan, was always ready for a card game, and loved tractor parading with his dad.

Mike is survived by his father, Jim Ley (Norma Starrett); siblings, Bev (Denny) Cathman, Dave (Deb) Ley, Donna (Jim) Knapp, Pat (Cindy) Ley, Gene (Terri) Ley, Bill (Jackie) Ley, Rick (Julie) Ley, and Jay Ley; Mikes special friend, Penny Hendricks; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many other loving relatives & friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kate; a brother, Thomas; and a sister, Mary Therese.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 am on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at St. Charles Catholic Church, Cassville, with Father John Meinholtz officiating. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 to 7 pm on  Friday, April 20, 2012, at St. Charles Catholic Church, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Cassville is serving his family.
