Michael J. Leibfried

Michael J. “Mick” Leibfried, age 78, of Potosi, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 22, 2024. He was born on October 26, 1945, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Louis F. and Florence P. (Pitzen) Leibfried. Mick attended Potosi schools. He drove milk truck and worked in the mines. Mick started working at the Dubuque Packing Company in 1965 and remained there until his retirement in 1996. On March 20, 1997, he was united in marriage to Renee Brinkman in Dubuque. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Potosi. In his younger years, Mick enjoyed cutting wood and hot rods with his brother. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and spending time on the river. Mick loved socializing with friends and family over a few beers. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Renee; children: Makila (Tim) Fecht, Dawn (Pete) Reynolds, Sarah, Tara and Amanda Wilkinson; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and three on the way; his siblings: Joyce Kuster, Barb Thompson, Ed (Lorie) Leibfried, Doug (Cyn) Leibfried, Herb Leibfried, Elaine (Mike) Ostrander, Louie (Pam) Leibfried, Tim (Cory) Leibfried, Sheila (Jim) Reynolds; Larry (Cindy) Leibfried, Randy (Deb) Leibfried; a sister-in-law, Sandy Leibfried; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Mick was preceded in death by a sister, Janet, a brother, Dave, and his in-laws: Wayne Kuster and Tom Thompson.

In keeping with Mick’s wishes there will be no services. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Potosi is assisting the family. The family would like to thank Grant County Hospice, Kim and Melissa, and Dr. White for their care and compassion.
