 Michael J. Mason, age 36, of Glen Haven passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013 of natural causes. He was born  July 27, 1976 the son of John "Jack" and Patricia "Patty" (Edge) Mason. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1995, and from Black Hawk East College in Kewanee, IL, with a degree in agriculture production. It was there he met who would become his wife, and on March 24, 2001 he married Rose Gutschlag at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington, WI. After their marriage, the couple became partners on the Mason family farm, with his father, brother, Joe, and cousin, Tony (Janell) Meier. Michael was a member of the Grant County, Wisconsin and National Cattlemen's Associations; Southwest Wisconsin, Wisconsin, and American Angus Associations; River Ridge FFA Alumni; and Bloomington Area Sportsman Club; past President and current board member of Grant County Cattlemen's Association, and past board member of the Wisconsin Cattlemen's Association. His greatest joys were his family, wife, and children. Purebred Angus cattle and love of the land was a life long family passion passed down from his grandfather, Melvin Mason, uncles Stan, Gene, Pete and his father Jack. Michael also enjoyed fishing, the competitiveness of playing cards, and showing Angus cattle.

Surviving is his wife Rose; two children Emma and Ben, and one on the way; parents Jack and Patty Mason, two brothers, Matthew (Megan), and Joseph; mother and father-in-law. Kenny (Barbara) Gutschlag, a niece, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin (Ruth) Mason and Burnell (Cleone) Edge; and his cousins: Mary Clevidence, Casey Craugh, and Rodney Ziegler.

Funeral services were held on Thursday June 27, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington with Fr. John Meinholz and Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in the Blakes Prairie Cemetery. Friends called on Wednesday June 26, 2013 from 4 to 8 pm. at St Mary's Catholic Church, and on Thursday from 9:30 am until time of services. Martin Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Michael J. Mason memorial fund has been established.
