Melvin J. Leindecker, age 79, of Potosi, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at his home in Potosi. He was born on May 13 1932, in Lancaster, the son of Henry and Rose (Atkinson) Leindecker. Melvin grew up in the Lancaster area. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and upon his return and Honorable discharge, married Charlotte Starr. Melvin enjoyed his daily card game at the Roadhouse with his friends. He was a Green Bay Packer fan, played golf, threw horseshoes, and liked to fish.
Surviving are his children, Ada (James) Davidson, South Beloit, IL, Melvin (Cindy Cisewski) Leindecker Jr., Beloit, WI, Charmel (Gerald) Jacobs, Rockton ,IL, JoAnn (David) Stanley, Machesney Park, IL, and Julie Leindecker, South Beloit, IL; many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; a sister, Mary Lou (Donald) Phillips, Beloit; a brother-in-law, Charles Tracy, Janesville; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Leindecker, South Beloit, IL.
He was preceded in death by his former wife Charlotte, brothers; Albert (Mamie Lou), William, Robert, his sister Darlene Tracy and a son-in-law C. Mark Hayes.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 11:00am at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster. Burial with military honors was in the Hillside Cemetery. Friends called on Saturday July 23, 2011 from 9:00 am until time of services at the funeral home.
