Mavis C. Hochhausen, age 74, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Cassville, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital. She was born June 3, 1937, the daughter of Charles and Mabel (Ruroden) Bergan. Mavis married Leon P. Hochhausen at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven on January 27, 1955. Together they farmed in rural Cassville, near the Hochhausen family farm. She was employed at Rapid Die & Molding in Cassville and later as a CNA at the Lancaster Care Center. After retiring in 2008, she moved to Beaver Dam to be near her family.
Mavis was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Glen Haven. She loved spending time with her family and dearly loved her grandchildren. Mavis enjoyed reading, watching cooking shows, and driving the country side with her sister, Eloise.
Surviving are her children: LuAnn (Bud Frederick) Hochhausen, Belleville; Julie (Scott Vogt) Hochhausen, Mt. Horeb; Steven (Diana) Hochhausen, Platteville; Kari (Curt) Raisbeck, Beaver Dam; 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a sister Eloise Kirschbaum, Cassville,
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leon, a son Douglas, her sister Cecelia (Calvin) Harbough, and a brother-in-law LaVerne Kirschbaum.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 10:00am at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in the Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven. Family and friends called on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville, where a 7:00pm parish scripture service was held.
