PLATTEVILLE - Maude D. Dailey, age 98, of Platteville, formerly of Bloomington, slipped gently into the arms of Jesus on Monday, September 27, 2021. She was born on January 15, 1923, in Waterloo Township, the daughter of Erskine and Larene (Barr) Blackbourn. Maude was united in marriage to Earl Dailey at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster on August 17, 1942. To this union, seven children were born. Maude raised her family and worked as a nursing assistant at Orchard Manor Nursing Home for several years. She was a long-time member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Cassville Historical Society.
In addition to her parents, Erskine and Larene Blackbourn, Maude was preceded in death by her brothers: Russell and Claire Blackbourn; her sisters: Ruth Palmer and Winifred Christensen; her husband, Earl Dailey, and sons: James, Charles, and David Dailey.
She is loved and will be missed by her sisters: Ellen Krohn and Mary Lu Vondrum; her children: Harry Dailey, Alice Anderson, Dee Dailey, Kathy Hale, Karen Martinez, and Jeannie Larsen, and many, many grandchildren; to the SIXTH GENERATION; nieces, nephews, and innumerable friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Reverend Mark Dieter officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bloomington. Family and friends may call on Friday from 12:00 noon until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Maude D. Dailey Memorial Fund has been established.
